Looking for Care Homes in Tunbridge Wells

The thought of looking at care homes for your loved one can set off a whole range of conflicting emotions. It’s only natural to want them to receive the best possible care in a safe and welcoming environment. But you also want them to maintain a certain level of independence and to be able to enjoy life, not feel locked away and forgotten.

There’s a lot to consider and it can be hard to know where to start. Reputation, location, accommodation, facilities, cost and staffing levels are all important factors that need to be evaluated and weighed up. Ticking boxes is fine - and a necessary exercise - but it’s how you and your loved one feels about a place that will probably have the most impact on your final choice.

Location, location, location

Moving to a care home is the same as moving anywhere – location is key. It’s got to be somewhere the person wants to be and will enjoy being. And you don’t want your loved one to be stuck miles away from the family. A location that’s easy to get to makes regular visits a lot easier and more manageable. Knowing you’re not too far away can also help to relieve a lot of anxiety on both sides.

Royal Tunbridge Wells is a great choice for those wanting to live out their later years in pleasant surroundings. Situated in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the edge of Kent’s High Weald, this historic spa town abounds with charm and offers plenty to interest and entertain older citizens.

In fact, if you google ‘Care Homes in Tunbridge Wells’ and you’ll find yourself somewhat spoilt for choice. Surrounded by the beautiful Kent countryside and picturesque ‘old English’ villages, Tunbridge Wells is an ideal location for those who are retired but not necessarily retiring.

Making the right choice

Even if you have decided on location, how do you go about choosing the right care home? Here at MG Care Homes, we realise it can be a difficult and trying time for all concerned. You want to find the best care and surroundings where your loved one can truly feel at home. Somewhere they can actually ‘live’ rather than just ‘be’.

At MG Homes, we believe the right choice is the one that echoes yours and your loved one’s values the closest. The one that makes you feel the most comfortable and at ease. Values that stand above and beyond standard requirements.

A care home that truly cares

Care is at the centre of everything we do. We are an independent, family-run business and we extend those family values to all our residents, treating them as we would treat our own - with compassion, respect and dignity. We understand what independence means to our residents and so we provide truly bespoke care that opens up new opportunities to enjoy life. Not an end, but a new beginning.

Our staff spend time getting to know our residents personally, their wants and needs, likes and dislikes. They spend one-to-one time with them every day, getting to know them better, chatting, listening and making sure they have everything they need. This allows us to develop a truly personalised care plan that goes beyond mere nursing, tailored to every individual’s situation.

Small and homely

Our Warwick Park care home in Tunbridge Wells is a beautiful 31-bed Edwardian property with expansive grounds, set in a quiet residential road. It’s just a few minutes’ walk from the historic town centre with its multitude of shops and cafes. Resident numbers are small so everyone feels at home and not like guests in a hotel. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, relaxed and friendly. A place our residents are happy and proud to live in and where their families feel at ease when they visit.

There are two communal areas to socialise in and relax, watch TV or read: an open-plan lounge and dining room overlook the landscaped gardens and there is also a quiet area for residents to enjoy some time to themselves whenever they wish.

Private and personal

We understand how important it is for people to have their own private space too. All our bedrooms are generously proportioned and beautifully appointed, most with ensuite facilities, and all are equipped with electric beds, smart TVs and Wi-Fi.

This is where our residents can feel most at home, adding personal effects, pictures and keepsakes. Somewhere they can really make their own and be happy spending time. We also allow pets by prior arrangement.

Home cooking never tasted so good

We all appreciate the importance of good food and nutrition and understand the vital role they play in wellbeing, especially in later years. Our professional chefs prepare a daily choice of freshly cooked, balanced meals in our state-of-the-art kitchen, with menus tailored to reflect individual preferences as well as favourite dishes.

We never forget a birthday and there’s a drinks trolley service offering wines, beers, spirits and soft drinks in our lounges every Friday.

Keeping active in mind and body

There’s no shortage of choice when it comes to finding things to do either. Our Activity Coordinators make sure there’s always something going on to keep life fun, varied and interesting.

This ranges from exercise classes and craft activities to quizzes and games to keep mind and body active. Personal hobbies and crafts are also encouraged and taken into account, so if there’s something your loved one particularly likes, we’ll do our best to accommodate it. We enjoy live entertainment as well as regular visits from outside groups. All of it is voluntary and shaped by and around the residents. We also organise regular group outings to the cinema, theatre and sporting events.

We understand that life can get busy and so you don’t miss out on what your loved one is up to, we keep a daily journal for each resident that you can access online.

24/7 care

Our staff are all highly trained and fully qualified and there’s always someone on hand night or day to ensure every need is covered. We maintain the highest standards of nursing and medical care to cater for most day-to-day needs. We are also able to provide extra support where needed for dementia, MS, physical disabilities, stroke and terminal illness.

At Warwick Park, we also offer a full range of add-on services designed to meet our residents’ needs. These include dentistry, chiropody, physiotherapy and reflexology as well as alternative therapies such as aromatherapy and massage. And we’re always open to new ideas should residents (or their carers) desire further services.

Safe and sound

At MG Homes, we take senior care seriously. Our role is not just to provide a safe and friendly environment for our residents, but also peace of mind for families and carers.

Knowing everything is taken care of and your loved one is being cared for round the clock takes a weight off your shoulders while giving them a new lease of life with the chance to make new friends and discover new pastimes.

In addition to full-time residential care, we also cater for short-term stays, assisting in recuperation from illness, treatment or accident. A safe and relaxing environment to speed recovery, and a welcome break for full-time carers.

Of course, the only true way to judge if our care home in Tunbridge Wells is right for your loved one, is to see it for yourself and experience it first-hand. We welcome enquiries and would urge you to pay us a visit.

We look forward to showing you around and answering any questions.
