Family run care homes in Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells

When you have reached the decision to look for a care home or nursing home for you or loved one, what’s the main thing you’re looking for? That the best possible care is being offered in a safe and welcoming environment. And a comfortable home where it’s possible to maintain a certain level of independence and to be able to enjoy life, not feel locked away and forgotten.

So where do you start? Here are some considerations to help you.

Location and environment

Whenever you move home, it’s got to be somewhere you want to be and moving to a care home is no exception. And you won’t want your loved one miles away from the family which will make visiting difficult. It can help both of you to know you’re not too far away.

A nursing home near Tonbridge or Tunbridge Wells is a perfect choice. As well as easy access from London, the south coast and the south east, there’s lots on offer in the towns closest to our care homes.

We have two nursing homes in Kent: one in the picturesque, tranquil village of Speldhurst, just outside Tonbridge; and one in the town of Tunbridge Wells.

Little Court in Speldhurst is an Edwardian property, modernised to the highest standard and offering a relaxed environment with a large mature garden surrounded by trees. It has a spacious conservatory where friends and family can relax and socialise.

Our Warwick Park nursing home in Tunbridge Wells is a recently renovated 31-bed Edwardian property with beautiful, landscaped gardens for all residents to enjoy. It is set in a quiet residential road close to the town centre.

We purposely limit our homes to small numbers of residents (no more than 35) so that they feel more at home and not merely guests in a hotel. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, relaxed and friendly. A place our residents are happy and proud to live in and where their families feel at ease in when they visit.

Care with dignity

We care for your loved one with compassion, respect and dignity. We are family-run, and we share our family values with all our residents and treat them like family. It’s important to offer our residents independence while providing individual care, giving new opportunities through friendship and companionship.

We spend lots of time with all our residents, taking the time to get to know them, find out what they like and dislike. The better we know our residents, the more we can make sure they have everything they need. That includes tailoring a care plan to every individual’s situation that goes beyond mere nursing.

Home from home

Wherever your loved one lives, private space is important. We encourage residents to bring personal items to make their bedroom their own, somewhere they are happy to be. All bedrooms are generously proportioned and equipped, most with ensuite facilities, and all with electric beds, smart TVs and Wi-Fi. We also allow pets by prior arrangement.

Wholesome and nutritious menus

We have professional chefs dedicated to preparing freshly cooked, balanced meals every day, with menus that reflect individual preferences as well as favourite dishes.

Our daily offering includes continental or cooked breakfast, mid-morning coffee, tea and snacks, hot or cold lunch dishes, afternoon tea with homemade cakes or scones and hot or cold evening meals with a glass of wine or beer. Further light refreshments are also available throughout the evening or night time.

Birthdays are important and we celebrate every single one – who doesn’t love a slice of birthday cake on their special day?

Physical and mental health

A big advantage to life in a care home or nursing home is the range of activities and things to do. Everything is optional but we cater for all tastes and shape events around our residents. We have Activity Coordinators to make sure there’s always something on offer that’s fun and interesting.

Activities range from exercise classes and craft activities to quizzes and games. We love to know about our residents’ own hobbies and crafts accommodate these much as possible. There’s live entertainment too, as well as regular visits from outside groups.

Round the clock care

Care isn’t 9-5. Our highly trained and fully qualified staff are on hand day and night to cover every need. Through maintaining the highest standards of nursing and medical care, we cater for most day-to-day needs and can also provide extra support for dementia, MS, physical disabilities, stroke and terminal illness.

Extra services to meet your loved one’s needs are also available. Chiropody and dentistry are on hand as well as physiotherapy and reflexology and alternative therapies such as aromatherapy and massage.

We take senior care seriously. You are your family want peace of mind that we are providing more than just a safe and friendly environment. You can rest easy, because everything is taken care of and your loved one is being looked after round the clock. We offer full-time residential care as well as short-term stays, which can assist in recovery from illness, treatment or accident.

There’s a lot to consider and it can be hard to know where to start. The only true way to judge if either of our Tunbridge Wells nursing homes is right for your loved one is to see for yourself. We welcome enquiries and would urge you to pay us a visit to look around and let us answer any questions.
